student athletes.

* Helped manage six major beats – including Lions, Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons, University of Michigan and
Michigan State.
* Edited stories from sports reporters and columnists.
* Worked nights managing website and helping edit stories for print and online.

* Direct editor for Chargers/NFL, local colleges (San Diego State and University of San Diego), columnists, horse racing and motor sports. That included working with reporters, editing copy and managing team website pages.

* In charge of planning and production for college sports content for both print and online for
the combined sports staff in Orlando and Fort Lauderdale.
* Lead editor on site in Orlando when sports editor was in South Florida (about 50 percent of
the time).
* Enterprise editor: served as lead editor on multiple major stories and projects, including
“sickle cell” project.

* Responsible for planning and production of content for print and online.
* Content editor for colleges coverage, including ACC basketball and football.

* Guided coverage of Bears/NFL, colleges (Northern Illinois) and high schools.
* Created several new online initiatives, including the paper’s first sports blogs.

“George Hood: 85 straight hours on an exercise bike” project.

* Worked with sports reporters to plan and execute content across platforms, including daily
content and long-term projects.
* Worked the night desk four nights a week, copy editing content.
* In charge of the department when the sports editor was unavailable.
